It has become the go-to website for perverts, voyeurs and those looking for an unsavoury webcam chat with a complete stranger.
But now internet chat site Chat Roulette is looking to introduce software that automatically blocks any images male genitals.
Users who visit the site and switch on their webcams are suddenly connected to another, randomly chosen person somewhere else in the world.
A Chatroulette user is confronted by the sight of a man unbuttoning his trousers in an increasingly common occurrence on the website
ChatRoulette can talk to each other, type messages or just say goodbye, rt.chatruletka-18.com/trans hit the ‘next' button and move on in an attempt to find somebody more interesting
But while unique visitors to the site have more than quadrupled in recent months, the site has come under fire from users who complained that it now the domain of men who only use it to flash.
Now, according to industry website Techcrunch, the site's owners are looking to tackle the problem.
Its 17-year-old Russian developer Andrey Ternovskiy is believed to be looking at implementing a service that may add software that ‘can quickly scan video to determine if a penis is being shown'.
The site will also flag up those users who are frequently ‘nexted', or who people do not want to remain chatting with, as this will usually mean that they are engaged in something rather unsavoury.
‘Users that are consistently quickly skipped over (presumably because they are exposing themselves or otherwise being disgusting) can be flagged as well,' Techcrunch said.
Some users did not seem so keen on the idea of censoring what is one of the internet's wilder websites.
'So if you remove the spectacle, what is left?
Only, Banal, and uninteresting conversation, which will send chat roulette into the dead pool,' wrote one Chatroulette fan on a forum
